Last month the girls' class collected items for a local orphanage. Since we sent in several bins of stuff to donate, the teacher contacted me and asked me if I would like to go with them to deliver the donations. I have been looking forward to going.
Three of the High School Helpers were responsible for organizing this humanitarian effort.
This morning we loaded up the bus with all of the donations and headed to the orphanage.
Much to our surprise we ended up at an office building. We quickly discovered that this was not a local orphanage, but a non-profit organization that cares for children in government run orphanages and juvenile detention centers in Honduras and El Salvador.
We unloaded the donations off the bus and put them into the director's van.
Orphans Helpers were very grateful for all of the donations.
The director took us inside for a tour of their office. The hallways were filled with pictures of the children that Orphan Helpers serve.
After our tour we got more information about Orphan Helpers and were even invited to make a trip to the orphanages someday.
While I was with the High School Helpers at Orphan Helpers, the girls enjoyed getting to meet the kids in the morning class.
Madison enjoyed making new friends and the edible traffic lights that we sent in for the class to make.
The edible traffic lights were finger licking good!
