Chalkboard (Glow in the Dark) Pumpkin

You might remember that last year we made Chalkboard Pumpkins. So this year we decided to make the Chalkboard Pumpkins ... Glow in the Dark!

First we painted the pumpkins with chalkboard paint and then painted some stars and polka dots on the pumpkins with glow in the dark paint that we bought at Walmart. The girls are using their glow in the dark pumpkins for night lights in their bedrooms. They really do GLOW! I couldn't get a very good picture of it in the dark though. The girls want to make another pumpkin with a glow in the dark ghost on it that says "BOO"!

When it Rains...it Pours!

Today a HUGE storm came through.

Needless to say...

We now have a lake in our backyard.

We had to get a new windshield because it was leaking.

We discovered two leaks in the house.

Glitter Pumpkins!

We needed a little more SPARKLE, so we decided to make some Glitter Pumpkins!

First, we painted our pumpkins with white glue.

Then we sprinkled the pumpkins with glitter.

Sequin Pumpkin!

We bought these cute little pumpkin pie pumpkins last weekend in Smithfield, Virginia. We couldn't wait to start decorating them. Jocelyn decided that she wanted her pumpkin to SPARKLE this year!

The girls helped me cover Jocelyn's pumpkin in rainbow sequins. All it took was 1 pumpkin, a bag of rainbow sequins, tons of straight pins, and a lot of patience. ;)

Gluey Ghost!

Today was the first day that actually felt a little like FALL! I saw this cute idea and couldn't wait to give it a try. We found a cute ghost shape online that we liked and printed it out. They cut out the ghost shape and then we taped it to the bottom of a clear plastic plate. We used the hot glue gun to draw the outline of the ghost. Then we filled in the ghost with hot glue. We let it cool then drew on the eyes and mouth with a black marker. The girls loved peeling our gluey ghosts off the plates and sticking them to our windows.

B-O-O!!!

You can make similar gluey ghosts by using white glue and wax paper, however it takes MUCH longer to dry. The girls weren't patient enough to do that again this year.

Our Day in Smithfield!

Today we went to the quaint town of Smithfield, Virginia.

The girls enjoyed posing with all of the statues as we walked down Main Street.

We had a delicious lunch at the local bakery before shopping in several of the stores. The girls especially enjoyed making their own lip gloss at one of the shops.

Next we headed to the museum. The girls loved that you could actually touch a lot of the items in the museum.

They even got to dress up in the children's area.

We enjoyed a quick game of checkers at the general store.

We even got to see the World's Oldest Ham!

Next thing you know the police car arrives to take them to the court house.

Then we headed to Darden's Country Store.

The girls got to get their first pumpkins of the season.

They wanted to bring home this super cute hay bale Jack O' Lantern!

We LOVED these HUGE hay bale people!

The girls had tons of fun running through the corn maze and playing on these cute cows. Madison is swinging her lasso. YE HA!

From Head to Toe

Madison was SUPER excited this FUN Friday because Mommy was coming to school to volunteer again and she got a certificate of excellence for the best criss cross applesauce in her class! Way to go Madison!!!

This afternoon I went into Madison's class to help the students make their own animal masks.

This week Madison's class has been reading From Head to Toe by Eric Carle. Earlier in the week I went in and made this cute class book for their class. The students LOVED wearing the masks and getting their pictures taken.

We ended our book with the picture of all the students with their finished masks saying "We can do it!"
