"Gotcha Day" Celebration!

Four years ago today we headed to Panama City to pick up our beautiful new daughter. A person from The Adoption Center picked her up from her birth family's house and brought her to us at a local Chick-fil-A. What an amazing day for our family!

Baby Jocelyn (6 months old) on her "Gotcha Day!"

Today we surprised Jocelyn with a "Gotcha Day" celebration!

Madison drew a special family portrait for her sister. In the picture we are all clapping and cheering because Jocelyn is in our family.

Madison also got her sister some heart and smiley balloons, because "we LOVE Jocelyn and are so HAPPY that God put her in our family!"

Daddy brought us home Chick-fil-A for dinner!

When we asked Jocelyn what she wanted special for her "Gotcha Day" she said all she wanted was an ice cream cake. Our little girl loves SWEETS!

Excited about the Oreo Cookie Ice Cream Cake!

Sweet Sisters...

ready to eat SWEETS!

Time for a few gifts!

Madison decorated her gift special for Sissy!

Madison got Jocelyn a little Snow White doll.

Mommy and Daddy got her some arts, crafts, and learning activities.

Madison sang a special "Gotcha Day" song to her Sissy!

"Gotcha Day”

A holiday of your own, when you can say
That you’ve found your home, it’s Gotcha Day!

An angel was prayed for, by the forlorn
Nine months later, you were born.

You came into this world, as an answered prayer.
What everyone wished for was finally there.

One family adoring you, but had to let go
To another that wanted and needed you so.

You brought all of us together, gave us the signs,
It’s as if you had said to us, “This family is mine.”

So tiny and helpless, yet perfect and strong,
You let both families know just where you belonged.

Such joy did you bring when you entered this world.
Never again will there be such a loved little girl!

Born to a family so filled with love,
And yet not your destiny, decided above.

My job was to help you and guide you along,
Until finding the family in which you belonged.

It was easy to see, by the look in your eyes,
Where you need to be, you were so very wise.

When the families met, it was love at first sight,
It’s as if you were telling me, “This family’s right.”

The bonding before me was so pure and true.
It became crystal clear just what I had to do.

You loved your new sister and then went to your dad.
These things you otherwise wouldn’t have had.

I’m watching you grow, mommy makes sure I do.
I’m always so glad that I listened to you.

The handprints, and pictures, sweet things that you make,
Only assure me, this was no mistake.

Everyone around you finds you so dear.
But never forget, that I’m always here.

January 25th, of each year, you can say...
“I’m special. I’m loved. This is my Gotcha Day!”

Thinking of you always,
Keisha
(Jocelyn's Birthmother)

Window Writing

Madison enjoyed writing her spelling words on the windows today with her Dry Erase markers.

Jocelyn enjoyed writing her letter Vv's, since it is V week at her preschool.

Aunt Jocelyn

The girls are always excited to get mail, but today they were thrilled to get this letter from Ms. Keisha (Jocelyn's birthmother).

Hello Everyone,
I hope that your holidays went well! The pictures were adorable! I haven't seen snow in years! And the girls are growing like weeds! Brittani Ann is due March 20th with a bay girl of her own (Stella Marie), it happens so fast!
Well, I just wanted to Thank you for the Christmas photos and send this stationary to the girls to color on!
Take care of each other and I'll talk to you soon!
Love,
Ms. Keisha

When we explained to the girls that Jocelyn's half sister would be having a baby, so that would make Jocelyn an Aunt. Jocelyn quickly replied..."I don't want to be an ant. I want to be a ladybug!" ;)

Holding Holly

Jocelyn wanted to try holding Holly today.
(Madison is still too scared to hold Holly.)

At first Jocelyn was a little nervous so Mommy helped. But then...

Jocelyn got to hold Holly all by herself for the first time today!

Norfolk Zoo

Even though it is the middle of winter, Clay decided that we should take the girls to the zoo today. The high was only in the 40s. Needless to say there weren't very many other people at the zoo today. Even though I was COLD, we all had a great time.

Ladybug Hat!

Our little ladybug girl has been asking for her very own ladybug hat, so I asked our friends at Curly Sue Creations if they could make Jocelyn a ladybug hat.

Kristen found a picture of one online and made it. Could it be any cuter?!?

Here is our ladybug girl in her ladybug hat!

She LOVES it!

Welcome Home Mr. Lance!

We are so HAPPY that Mr. Lance is home from his deployment!
The girls surprised him with a welcome home banner and cake.

We had dinner with Mrs. Nyx, Mr. Lance and Jude to celebrate a late Christmas with them.

The girls LOVED the cool styling heads that they both got!

Jude liked this Shake n' Go Race Cars!

Mr. Lance was a little scary in the Nacho Libre wrestling mask that Clay got him for Christmas!

Babysitting

This afternoon we got to babysit this little cutie while his mommy went to the lab to get an official pregnancy test done. He just turned one and his mommy found out that she is expecting another baby.

Silly Madison enjoyed entertaining him while he was here.

When he left Madison informed me that she wants a little brother! ;)

Because of Isaac!

As we approach the 4th Anniversary of Jocelyn's Gotcha Day, we are reminded of what a blessing adoption is. Therefore I am excited to introduce the new ministry...

After years of infertility, our dear friends John and Wendi were able to start their family in 2008 through the miracle of adoption. The Lord has given them a burden for other childless couples who want to adopt, but are not financially able. They started Because of Isaac to help those couples.

Feel free to check out their website (www.becauseofisaac.org) and see if this is something that the Lord wants you to participate in!

Dear Tooth Fairy...

Madison was SUPER EXCITED this morning when she discovered that the Tooth Fairy left her $5.00! She was sad to discover that her tooth was no longer in her tooth box, so she wrote the Tooth Fairy the following letter...

Dear Tooth Fairy,
Thank you for the 5 dollars, but I want my tooth back!
Love,
Madison

Madison Lost Her 1st Tooth!

Madison began crying this morning because she was scared that her wiggly tooth was going to fall out. After comforting her, she let me check it and we discovered that it was ready to come out. It was barely hanging there. We took one last picture of her wiggly baby tooth before we pulled it out.

She was so brave and let Mommy pull it. She didn't like seeing the blood though. Luckily it didn't bleed long.

She couldn't wait to run up to her bedroom and put her tooth in her tooth box.

Holly Hope Rabens

Clay and I decided to let the girls get a pet hamster. So for Christmas I wrapped up the hamster cage. The girls were so excited when they opened it and realized that they were going to be getting a new pet.

Madison drew a picture of the hamster that she wanted. She also decided to name her Holly Hope Rabens since we got her for Christmas.

Madison LOVES the pink princess carriage that we bought for Holly.

Jocelyn can't wait to take Holly to Show and Tell in her very own School Bus!

After going to three pet stores we finally found Holly Hope Rabens.

She is a female long haired teddy bear hamster.

We are so HAPPY that she is a part of our family!

Holly seems to really like her new home!
