Day with Cousins

Today we got to spend the whole day with our cousins.

We had lots of FUN!

Beautiful girls!

In the morning, we went to Michael's to make a craft.

We played dress-up while we waited for our craft time to begin.

We spent the afternoon in the pool.

Uncle Clay had fun with the kids in the pool.

Crazy Cousins!

We got cleaned up and enjoyed some playtime together.

Then Mimi came over and we all headed to Outback for dinner.

Happy 58th Birthday Grandma!

Today is Grandma's 58th Birthday!

We are so happy that we could come down to celebrate her birthday with her.

Grandma is still lots of FUN even at 58!

Our whole family went to brunch at the Broken Egg.

Then we came home to swim and open gifts.

Ocean Snacks

We signed up to bring dessert for tomorrow's CC lunch.  Since the kids have been learning about oceans, we decided to make some ocean themed desserts.
The girls loved being creative and decorating all of the ocean desserts.

Madison came up with this idea of a fish chasing a floating bear.  She thought the boys would like it.

She was inspired by Granddaddy and made a fishing bear using a toothpick fishing pole.

Jocelyn made a three friends cupcake and...

a three fish cupcake.

We also made ocean pudding cups.  We put Fruity Pebble cereal at the bottom to look like coral.  Then we made vanilla pudding and colored it blue to look like water.  We crushed up Nilla Wafers to look like sand.

We also made blue jell-o ocean cups with Swedish fish swimming in them.

CC Cycle 2 Week 1

We had a good 1st week back to school and doing CC.

We found a fun app to help us learn the continents and oceans.  Jocelyn also liked labeling them on our big map of the world.

Madison worked diligently tracing the world and labeling all the continents and oceans.

The girls grew their own biomes in a bottle too.

They now know the 7 types of biomes and have one of their very own.

Jocelyn enjoyed learned the 5 basic elements of shapes and drew a message in our driveway with chalk.  She wants all of our neighbors to know that "Jesus Loves You!"

First Day of School!

Today was our first day of Classical Conversations.  We had hoped to join a CC group when we lived in Virginia, but at the time there was not one in our area.  When I found out we were moving to Georgia, I immediately looked up to see if there was a CC group here.  I met with the CC director and got us signed up for this school year.  The group actually meets at the church we have been attending.

I surprised the girls with breakfast in bed to help get their day off to a good start.

We had FUN making this "1st Day of School" picture frame over the weekend.  We brought it to CC and I took "1st Day of School" pictures of all the kids.

We used velcro so that we could change the "1st" to "last" on our frame.  We our looking forward to taking "Last Day of School" pictures and seeing how much all of the kids have grown this school year.

Jocelyn's 1st day of 2nd Grade!

Madison's 1st day of 3rd Grade!

They are growing up way too fast.

Jocelyn's 1st Day of School!

Madison's 1st Day of School!

Homeschoolers!

Hopefully we don't go crazy this school year!

The girls made lots of friends at CC.

Madison and Katie are already best buddies.  Katie's dad is in the Air Force too.   Her dad will be deploying on Monday to Africa.  Please keep their family in your prayers.  The girls are already planning play dates and sleepovers.

The girls and I made these little treat bags for all of the kids at CC.  We put mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, and graham crackers in snack size bags and attached the following note:
Today was a great first day!
And now it's all done.
I can't wait till the next time,
For s'more learning fun!
From,
Madison the Marshmallow
and Jocelyn the Chocoholic

The afternoon was spent in our homeschool room.

We have our own CC Memory Work board at home.

We also set up a review area for them to practice their memory work from previous weeks.  We are looking forward to learning a lot and making new friends.

Please pray for us as we embark on another year of homeschooling!

Trotting

Madison loves her horse riding lessons.  She counts down the days until she gets to ride Leo again.

She looks so natural on her horse.

Jocelyn brought bones to give to the dogs.

She likes watching her sister ride.

Look NO hands!  Madison did a great job practicing her balance.

She was so excited that she got to start trotting today!

Here is a video of Madison trotting.

She brought carrots to give to Leo after her lesson.
