Keeping Busy

Last night we took Baxter to his first puppy class at PetSmart.  He learned to sit, leave it, and watch me.

This morning Jocelyn made a monster at Micheals Kid's Craft Club.

Madison spent the morning at the VSU Red Hot's Dance Camp.

The VSU Dance Team taught the kids several dance routines.  Madison had the option to perform with them tonight at the VSU football game during half-time, but she thought it would be too scary with all those people watching.  Maybe she will perform with them next time.

Here is a video of Madison's favorite dance routine.

Love God Artwork

It was another rainy afternoon, so we decided to paint another canvas.
This time we stuck letter stickers on it to spell LOVE GOD in the shape of a cross.

Then we painted it with sparkle paint.

Once it dried, we outlined the letters and cross with black marker.

The girls love the finished product and the fact that it sparkles in the light.

Rainy Day Art

It has rained all weekend, so the girls and I decided to do some rainy day artwork.

We all worked together to make this rainbow canvas.  First, we stuck sticker letters to the blank canvas.  Then, we drew pencil lines and painted them in with rainbow colors.  Finally, we removed the sticker letters and outlined them with black marker.

It was a fun project that reminded us that God will never flood the Earth again, even though we have had tons of rain here lately.

Little Songwriters

Today the girls decided to write their own songs.  I found all of these songs written on the whiteboard.

They even came up with choreography for some of the songs.  I am looking forward to the Successful Sisters concert on Saturday night.

Iron-on T-shirts

We found some iron-on items on clearance, so the girls decided to design their own t-shirts.

Madison made herself a Dino Girl t-shirt.

Jocelyn was having trouble deciding what to put on her t-shirt, but after several suggestions she settled on "Jocelyn the Cutie."

The girls like their new t-shirts and plan on using them for night shirts or art shirts.

Fashion Designers

The girls are having so much fun designing dresses with the kits that Mamaw gave them for their birthdays.  It is amazing how many different designs they have made.

They even convinced Granddaddy to start designing.

She even let her sister paint one of the dinosaurs.

Art is Everywhere

The girls have been making art everywhere.

Madison used the whiteboard to design cakes.

She even designed this Candyland cake with all of the characters.

Jocelyn made tons of new pictures to hang on the bulletin board.

They both had fun drawing mermaids with the window markers.

Art

I bought the girls some canvases to paint.

They decided to put tape on this one and then paint it.

They liked the finished product when they took the tape off.

Granddaddy hung the girls artwork in the playroom.  Jocelyn painted rainbows, flowers and ladybugs.

Madison painted a mermaid and flowers.

The girls worked on these pieces together.

Weather Bear

When Nana retired from teaching, she gave the girls her Weather Bear.

It has been raining all week long, so Jocelyn decided to make Weather Bear a raincoat and umbrella.

Madison made Weather Bear a princess dress and tiara.

They worked on this outfit together.  Madison made a USF Bulls swimsuit and Jocelyn made the roller skates.

The girls and Weather Bear are hoping that we get our first snow of the Winter tonight.

Peninsula Fine Arts Center

This morning the girls and I went to the Peninsula Fine Arts Center for an art class.

We learned about abstract art and observed the artwork of Richard Hunt.

The girls each picked a different sculpture to observe.

They drew the lines, shapes and spaces that they saw on the sculpture.

Then they used colored pencils to finish their abstract masterpieces.

Madison's abstract art!

Jocelyn's abstract art!

They also got to make their own 4th of July wreaths!
