Madison has a new morning routine at Grandma and Granddaddy's house. 

 Every morning she reads the comics while she eats her mini pancakes with whipped cream.  

Edible Easter Eggs

Today Madison is reading The Enormous Elephant Show to Jocelyn's preschool class for E Week.

We made Edible Easter Eggs for a special snack to eat after the story. These eggs even have an extra surprise hidden inside. They are rice crispy treat eggs filled with M&Ms. EXCELLENT!

Zebra Cakes

Today Madison read Zack the Lazy Zebra to Jocelyn's preschool class for Z Week. We made Zebra Cakes for a special snack to eat after the story.

We layered chocolate and vanilla cake mix to make striped cupcakes.

We iced the cupcakes with white icing and added a cute little zebra face with black and pink icing.

Xylophone Cakes

This week Madison is reading A Xylophone for X-Ray Fish, to Jocelyn's preschool class. We made each of the kids their own Xylophone Cake to eat after the story.

Alligator Skin

For the last few weeks, Madison has been going in one afternoon a week to read to Jocelyn's preschool class. All of the kids LOVE it! Madison reads them a story related to the "letter of the week." This week the letter is A, so she is reading them The Adventures of Abby Alligator. Madison also made a special Alligator Skin snack to take in for the kids to eat after she reads them the book.

Alligator Skin:

(Green Cornflake Crispy Treats)

6 cups of Cornflakes

1 bag of Marshmallows

3 tablespoons of butter

Green food coloring

Heat marshmallows and butter in the microwave for 3 minutes. Stir it after 2 minutes. Add the green food coloring and cornflakes. Then mix well.

I Love My Family!

Madison decided to write another book and take it into school to share on Friday. This time she let Jocelyn help her with the illustrations. Jocelyn got to color the grass on each page. ;)

Unfortunately Madison got tired and was unable to make a page for everyone in her family that she LOVES. She wants me to let you know that she LOVES you very much and will add you to her book soon.

Summer is Here!

Madison came home from school yesterday and wanted to write a book. She worked very hard on her book all evening and then woke up early this morning to finish it before school. Madison drew all of the pictures and only needed a little help spelling some of the words in her story. She showed it to her teacher and asked if she could read it to the class at story time. She can't wait to read it to everyone.

Madison's New Book

Our Word Worm has grown so BIG that we had to move onto another wall.

Madison wanted to read everyone her new book, Pat. Enjoy!

Madison can READ!

Not only can Madison read, spell, and write every word on our growing "Word Worm,"

but she can also read her first book!

The book repeats itself because in the second half of the book the students have to write in the correct words to match the pictures in the story. She is SOOOO excited that she can read a book all by herself. She is taking her book to school today and asking her teacher if she can read it to the class. :)

Growing Word Worm

Now that we have learned the letters L, O, G, H, and T, we can read and spell the following words...

log, hog, got, hot, lot, and tot.

Our Word Worm just keeps growing!

Word Worm!

We are making a "Word Worm" in our home school room. The "Word Worm" will grow as the girls' learn to read and spell new words. They can't wait for their "Word Worm" to grow all around the room!
