We also watched a dog show and...

a geese show!

Eden Farms!

This afternoon we went to Eden Farms to pick some strawberries.

They are hydroponic strawberries, which means that they are grown without soil and the nutrients are delivered to the plant in the water they use. Eden Farms utilizes a vertical system in combination with ground pots. The plants are grown in layers or mixture of perlite and coconut coir. Coir is ground up coconut husk and perlite is little spheres that are created when pumice is heated. The water used in ph balanced for the kind of plant it is supporting and is complete with all the nutrients needed by fruit.

The girls enjoyed using scissors to cut the ripe strawberries off the plant.

Our baskets are full of yummy strawberries!
